Owners Todd and Amy Poole opened their first Whit’s Frozen Custard location in Marysville in May 2014. Todd was first introduced to Whit’s while working as a firefighter in Granville, Ohio.
“I always had a love for ice cream, but Whit’s was like nothing I had ever experienced. I just had to be a part of it,” Poole said.
Poole said after receiving an overwhelming amount of encouragement from Bellefontaine area residents to open a location in the area, he decided it was time.
“The families in these communities are making frequent trips to Marysville to visit Whit’s and we wanted to add a location that was more convenient for some of our most loyal customers,” he said. “We are hoping our presence in downtown Bellefontaine will add to the town’s booming restaurant scene.”
The frozen custard, which is crafted on-site and served fresh daily, is a premium form of ice cream. Whit’s starts early each morning to craft four fresh flavors.
“We always have chocolate and vanilla, but it’s the rotating weekly and daily flavors that allow us to show our passion and creativity for ice cream,” Poole said. “It’s an extremely rewarding experience for us to see our customers enjoy it as much as we do.” Poole added that Whit’s gets much of its inspiration from customer requests for flavors.
Whit’s recently signed a 10-year lease for its downtown location from Bellefontaine Properties, LLC.
“We are thrilled to work with Jason Duff and his team to create a first-class experience for the community,” said Poole.
The new Whit’s Bellefontaine location at 112 S. Main St. is beginning construction soon and is projected to open in early May 2018. Updates will be provided on the Whit’s Bellefontaine facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/WhitsBellefontaine.
