Indian Lake High School students were able to put a face to familiar voice during this month’s Career Speaker Series. Chad Wilkinson from WPKO/WBLL Radio was the guest professional.

Wilkinson explained his role as an on-air personality doing the morning show and sporting events. He also talked about his role as Operations and Sales Manager at the station.

As a person who hires most of WPKO’s employees, Wilkinson told the students to be sure to listen and follow up when applying for a job. He also said applicants need to display a sense of commitment to the company, “When you choose a career, you’ve got to be ‘all in’ to be successful.”

Wilkinson started out in radio as a DJ at Riverside High School’s local station in DeGraff. After attending a 2-year school for broadcasting, he began his career at WPKO and has continued to climb the ranks. He says radio is growing and it’s a good industry to consider for a career at this time.

Wilkinson’s visit is part of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce’s Career Speaker Series at area high schools.
