Logan County Retired Teachers met at noon on Oct. 24 at Hi-Point Career Center. Leanna George led the Heart Strings Dulcimer group, which played several selections to entertain the group.
Martha Manchester spoke to the group about her experiences on the Ohio Board of Education. Gov. Kasich appointed her in January as the member-at-large for the board. She shared information with the group and stressed that the state representatives and senators are the ones who decide all school requirements. The state board makes recommendations but the legislature has the final say.
President Emerson Brown led the meeting after the speaker. The area representative from Ohio Retired Teachers Association, BJ Woodruff, shared current news from her group in Columbus.
Any retired educator is welcome to attend the next meeting on Dec. 7 at noon at the Bellefontaine Church of God. For more information, call Emerson Brown at 937-404-9453. Logan County Retired Teachers has a Facebook page available also.
