The Ohio Hi-Point Outdoor Careers students took home first place and $1,500 in prize money at the Ohio High School Landscape Olympics in early November.

The Landscape Olympics, an educational competition to test skills and knowledge, was hosted by the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association at OSU ATI in Wooster.

Ohio Hi-Point’s students competed against 250 other high school students from 20 schools across the state. During the event, students could network with more than 25 companies and leaders in the green industry.

“I’m incredibly proud of this group of students and how they displayed their knowledge and skills within the green industry,” said instructor Cole Carpenter. “The prize money will go towards our CTSO (FFA) to help us participate in additional educational opportunities and events.”

The team of Outdoor Careers students who captured first place include Stephen Dunham (Graham High School), Cody Board (Bellefontaine High School), Creighton Bradley (Triad High School), Kolton Parker (Benjamin Logan High School), Quincy Hassell (Bellefontaine High School), Daniel Long (Indian Lake High School), Tylar Jett (Urbana High School), Josh Mays (Graham High School), Orion Horn (Benjamin Logan High School), Damien Masters (Mechanicsburg High School), and Ben Brunswick (Bellefontaine High School).
