Indian Lake Middle School continues to hold academic achievement, attendance and attitude in the highest regard and honors students who exemplify all three.
School officials inducted 19 new members into the ILMS Academic Hall of Fame during a recent ceremony.
Inductees who are now 9th graders in the Class of 2021 were honored. They are Kayli Barlow, Ryan Braig, Douglas Bungard, Allix Cotterman, Nate Cummins, Brian Downey, Holly Harford, Kyleigh Huffer, Jacob King, Lane Mefford, Bostyn Moots, Raelyn Parsell, Isaac Roby, Lillian Roby, Ashlyn Shaner, Carson Shepherd, Samantha Swygart, Brandon Villa and Ella Wagner.
Their parents and siblings were on-hand for the program held in front of the entire ILMS student body. Not only is the assembly an effort to highlight student achievement, it is also an opportunity for students being recognized to thank special ILMS staff members who helped them during their middle school career.
In order to qualify for the Hall of Fame students must maintain a 3.8 grade point average while at ILMS, maintain a 98 percent attendance rate, be enrolled 70 percent of the semesters during their 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade years and not be an excessive discipline problem at school. Co-Principal Don Bauer commended the parents and families for their involvement with their students and their commitment to education. A reception for inductees and their families was held in the ILMS Media Center after the ceremony. This is the 23rd class inducted into the ILMS Acamedic Hall of Fame. Their pictures will hang in the school for years to come.
