The Logan County Art League will host nationally known Ohio watercolorist Christopher Leeper, who will present a watercolor demonstration at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at the Gallery at the Holland. The Gallery is located at 127 E. Columbus Ave. in Bellefontaine. This demonstration is free and the public is invited.
Leeper is a full-time artist from Canfield. He is the author of Realism in Watermedia, published by North Light Books. He has illustrated four children’s books for the Smithsonian and the African Wildlife Foundation. His work has been featured in several books and publications, including The Artist’s Magazine, American Artist and Ohio Magazine. Mr. Leeper is a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Art at Youngstown State University. He served as president of the Ohio Watercolor Society (2008-2012).
Leeper is in Bellefontaine to conduct a four-day watercolor workshop sponsored by the Logan County Art League. This event and the demonstration are being funded with help from a grant received from the Ohio Arts Council. OAC also funded the purchase of a demonstration mirror which allows the audience to easily see the painting as it is being created.
