Submitted story

Government students in Teacher McKelvey’s class at Benjamin Logan High School were assigned to plan an event that will help their community. Cole Kennedy, Brent Luttmer and Sarah Seeley’s project is to combat the heroin epidemic by having an event to inform heroin addicts and their families about the resources in Bellefontaine and the surrounding areas available to them. The group received support from the community for this project.

Consolidated Care will have counselors at the May 20 event. Judge Ann Beck is bringing a probation officer, and C.O.R.E agreed to provide a speaker who has gone through recovery. Numerous local government officials agreed to attend and support the event.

People going through heroin addiction and those with friends and/or relatives with heroin addiction are invited to the May 20 event, to be held at 7 p.m. at the Bellefontaine Market Place Cafe. There will be assistance for those seeking help. Learn about resources available. There also will be food at the event.
