Indian Lake Middle School students and staff helped raise $850 for this year’s recent Doors of Encouragement event to benefit the Logan County Cancer Society.

Several students and staff members designed, painted and decorated two doors for the auction. One door was created in honor of long-time ILMS teacher Jean Newmeyer, who is battling sarcoma cancer. In addition, students designed and painted a second door for the event.

After being on display in Bellefontaine for several weeks, along with dozens of other doors, the creations were put up for auction. School representatives purchased the Newmeyer door for $300. It is currently on display in the Indian Lake Middle School main office. The other door sold at auction for $550. The Doors of Encouragement auction raised approximately $30,000 this year.

The ILMS Relay for Life event will be held Tuesday, May 23.
